Day 2: Monopoli – Alberobello
â—‰ Our bike tour begins through the beautiful hills of Valle d'Itria and its typical dry-stone walls. Our destination today is the small town of Monopoli with its famous port and Aragonese Castle. On the way, we will visit the Incina Tower and the Sella Grotto, a natural suspension bridge created after the progressive collapse of the internal part of the sea cave. We continue our way to the center of Monopoli, a true pearl, with picturesque shops and bars, and its small fishing bay that looks like scenes from a movie.
â—‰ Here we deserve a stop to regain energy before returning to Alberobello, where a delicious lunch with a visit and burrata tasting awaits us.
â—‰ At 7:00 PM transfer to Polignano a Mare and free dinner, at 10:30 PM transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3: Locorotondo – Cisternino – Ostuni
â—‰ Today we will dedicate ourselves to the discovery of some of the most charming villages in Puglia: Locorotondo, Cisternino, and Ostuni.
â—‰ We will pedal along charming roads that will lead us to Locorotondo, whose name derives from the Latin Locus Rotundus, literally 'round place', which characterizes the city. A perfect place to get lost in so much beauty and charm. We follow to Ostuni, where we will take a real dive into the valley of olive trees, where their secular trunks impress us with such beauty. Free time to get to know the city and then we continue by bike to the 'Masseria' specialized in olive oil production, where we will have a visit with tasting followed by lunch. After the activity, we continue by van to our next hotel.
â—‰ Dinner included.
Day 4: Otranto
◉ Today's bike tour is breathtaking… a continuous succession of climbs and descents, spectacular curves, and all the colors of a wonderfully unique landscape, protected by the Costa Otranto Santa Maria di Leuca Park.
â—‰ It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful routes, between cliffs and bays of clear waters ranging from aqua green to sky blue. We will stop in the beautiful bay of Tricase Porto, time for a coffee and to refresh ourselves before continuing the way. A stop at Bar da Carlo cannot be missed in the itinerary, a historic place in Porto Badisco with a menu rich in Salento cuisine pratos. Free time for lunch. We will arrive at our hotel near Otranto, where at 5:00 PM a special visit to the ancient mill for olive oil production awaits us, followed by a tasting of products.
â—‰ Free dinner.
Day 5: Free day and boat trip
â—‰ Of course, a boat tour in this paradise could not be missed!
â—‰ After pedaling by crystal clear seas, we could not miss the opportunity to visit the most beautiful caves in the region and enjoy a bit of this beach.
â—‰ Our boat tour lasts about 4 hours and will take us to see Conca Spechiulla, Faraglioni di Sant'Andrea, Torre dell'Orso, and the famous lovers' arch. Includes aperitif on the boat and two stops for sea bathing (depends on the weather). The boats authorized to circulate and make stops near the coasts are small vessels with lower environmental impact.
â—‰ The tour schedule depends on atmospheric conditions and will be communicated the previous day.
â—‰ In case of impossibility of a boat tour, the activity will be substituted with a bike tour or similar. Accommodation in Otranto.
â—‰ Free dinner.
Day 6: Lecce
◉ Today is the day of surprises… A quite flat route partly by the sea. We leave Otranto and follow the way to our last day of pedaling, with destination Lecce, the most splendid city in all of Salento. We will pass through the beautiful Le Cesine nature reserve, by the beautiful Faraglioni di Sant'Andrea, and finally we will refresh ourselves in the Poetry Grotto, one of the most beautiful natural pools in the world. Our last stop will be the village of Acaya. Its particular historical importance is precisely due to the fact that it is the only example of a fortified city in southern Italy, with a strong 17th-century aspect and typically Renaissance imprint, having survived almost unscathed through centuries and wars. We continue our route and will soon arrive in the city of Lecce.
â—‰ We will have free time to explore this city rich in history and gastronomy. Don't miss visiting: Roman amphitheater, Piazza Sant'Oronzo, Porta Rudiae, Porta Napoli, Lecce Cathedral and Piazza Duomo, and trying the delicious Pasticciotti Leccesi.
â—‰ Then the dinner is free.
Day 7: End of the journey
â—‰ After breakfast, end of the journey.
â—‰ Transfer to Lecce train station upon request
