From Munich to Venice

Discover the “Munich – Venice” cycle route, a varied itinerary that crosses five regions and offers the perfect combination of cycling pleasure and the adventure of crossing the Alps. Starting from Germany, cycling through Austria and reaching the Adriatic Sea, you end your journey in the unique city of Venice, famous for its canals and historic palaces.

Along well-signposted cycle paths, secondary roads and trails designed for cyclists, you will be enchanted by the natural and cultural beauties of three countries. The route starts in Munich, Germany's southernmost metropolis, skirts Bavarian lakes, follows the Inn River through the Tyrolean valley, crosses the majestic Dolomites – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and reaches Treviso before finishing in Venice.

The journey alternates between large cities and romantic villages, lakes, valleys, castles and fortresses. It's impossible not to fall in love with this itinerary!

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Munich

◉ Individual arrival in Munich.
◉ Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Munich – Bad Tölz

◉ Ride along the Isar River, passing through forests, abbeys and Bavarian villages to the charming spa town of Bad Tölz.
◉ Distance: about 60 km.

Day 3: Bad Tölz – Schwaz/Jenbach or Maurach

◉ Follow to Sylverstein Lake, cross the Karwendel Park and reach the Achensee tourist region before descending into the Inn River valley.
◉ Distance: about 68 or 77 km.

Day 4: Schwaz/Jenbach/Maurach – Mühlbach/Rio di Pusteria

◉ Cycle to Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol, and take the hardest stretch of the Alps (Innsbruck–Brenner) by train or bus. Continue cycling to Rio di Pusteria.
◉ Distance: about 88 or 96 km + train/bus.

Day 5: Rio di Pusteria – Villabassa or Dobbiaco

◉ Follow the Rienza River valley to Brunico and then to Villabassa or Dobbiaco, enjoying alpine landscapes and local culture.
◉ Distance: about 50–55 km.

Day 6: Villabassa/Dobbiaco – Pieve di Cadore

◉ Pass the Dobbiaco and Landro lakes, enjoy the views of the Tre Cime and reach the elegant Cortina d’Ampezzo, finishing in Pieve di Cadore.
◉ Distance: about 60–65 km.

Day 7: Pieve di Cadore – Conegliano

◉ Descend through the valleys, pass Longarone and finish in Conegliano, in the heart of the Prosecco region.
◉ Distance: about 80 km.

Day 8: Conegliano – Venice/Mestre

◉ Cycle across the plain to Treviso, admire the Palladian villas and follow along the Sile River to Venice/Mestre.
◉ Distance: about 95 km.

Day 9: Mestre/Venice

◉ Enjoy the final day in Venice, exploring the city and its charms.
